Who is eligible to play Babe Ruth?

Anyone who lives within our geographical boundaries and is between 13 and 19 years old (per the official age chart) or is in 7th – 12th grade.

What league is my son supposed to play in?

Babe Ruth is broken up into grade appropriate leagues.

The Prep League is made up of players in the 7th and 8th grade.

The Junior League is made up of players in the 9th and 10th grade.  8th grade players that are a member of our travel program (Eau Claire A’s) are eligible to tryout for the Junior League.

When is the season?

Practices for all teams start as soon as the snow is gone and the fields are ready. The game schedule for 13 and 14 year olds (the Prep league) around the beginning of May and lasts until the end of June. The game schedule for 15 and 16 year olds does not start until the end of the High School baseball season and lasts until the end of mid-July.

Where are the games?

Games are held predominately at Mt. Simon Park, but may be played at Fairfax Field or Bollinger Field (Stein) as well.

What times are the games played?

Weekday games start at either 5:30 pm or 7:30 pm. Saturday games may start as early as 8:00 am and continue on every 2 hours. The rare games on Sunday do not start until the afternoon.

How long are the games?

The games are 7 innings long. The game time cannot exceed 1 hour 50 minutes.

When do practices start?

Team practices will start as soon as the fields are playable.

When does player registration open and end?

League registration opens on January 1st and ends on February 28th.

How much is the player fee for the Prep and Junior Leagues?

Prep League – $165
Junior League – $165

What does my registration fee cover?

The registration fee covers the cost of uniforms, umpires, field maintenance, insurance, workers for the concession stand, and other league expenses.

Can I get a discount if I have more than one player playing in the league?

What if I cannot afford the registration fee?

Financial hardship scholarships are available.  Email ecbr.baseball@gmail.com for more information.

How are the teams selected?

Teams are selected by the team’s manager and coaches through a player draft.  Draft order is based on the league standings from the previous season.

What are the bat requirements for the Prep and Junior Leagues?

Prep League

USABat and BBCOR bats are allowed.
Maximum weight differential for USABat stamped bats is -5.
USSSA stamped bats are not allowed.

Junior League

Only BBCOR bats are allowed.

Are metal cleats allowed?

Metal and rubber/molded cleats are allowed for all Babe Ruth age groups.
